A legendary expression of Saint-Estèphe

  • Classified as a 2nd Cru in 1855, Cos d'Estournel stands among Bordeaux's most distinguished properties. This Saint-Estèphe embodies the appellation's characteristic power and elegance.
  • The wine expresses the distinctive terroir of the Left Bank: deep gravels over clay and limestone, yielding a structure of remarkable finesse and ageing potential.
  • A compelling Saint-Estèphe that rewards patience. The balance between ripe fruit, refined tannins, and subtle oak integration makes this a benchmark Médoc claret.

Product features : Château Cos d'Estournel 2nd Cru Classé Saint-Estèphe

Breeding
Aged in 80% new oak barrels for 18 months.
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with excellent colour intensity and clarity.
On the nose
Complex bouquet of ripe dark fruits, vanilla, and toasted oak. The aromatics develop with air, revealing hints of graphite and dried herbs characteristic of the vintage.
In the mouth
The palate is round and generous, supported by a supple, silky structure. Well-integrated tannins provide backbone without dominating. The finish is persistent and refined.
M. Francois
I recommend this wine with red meats and game: roasted lamb, beef fillet, or venison would be excellent companions. It also pairs beautifully with white meats in richer preparations—a pork fillet or veal chop with mushrooms brings out the wine's subtle complexity. Decant an hour before service to allow the wine to fully express itself.

CHATEAU COS D'ESTOURNEL

Set on the hillsides of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d'Estournel covers 100 hectares classified as a 2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, now fully organic since 2024. Founded in 1811 by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel — nicknamed the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe for his pioneering trade with India — the château embodies the depth and structural precision of this appellation: deep quaternary gravels, Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, and a measured élevage that rewards patience. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for its organic commitment, exceptional terroir, and the remarkable consistency of a classified growth that ages with genuine distinction.
