Breeding
Approximately 16 months in French oak barrels. Moderate use of new wood to avoid masking the fruit's finesse.
On the eye
Clear ruby red, bright and inviting
On the nose
Open and deep, with prominent blackcurrant bud and violet, layered with restrained oak and vanilla that adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
In the mouth
Ample and fleshy with good juiciness, the palate shows excellent length and balance. The tannins are well-integrated, suggesting the wine will develop gracefully over the coming years.
A wine of genuine poise, suited to roasted game birds such as guinea fowl, or beef dishes of substance—a tournedos would be an excellent pairing. The structure suggests it will reward cellaring, though it is approachable now.
