Xavier Greuzard's mastery: pure terroir expression from vines of distinction

  • The domaine is undergoing conversion to organic viticulture, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practice and the integrity of the vineyard ecosystem. This transition ensures that the wines express their terroir with minimal intervention.
  • This wine is produced from a careful selection of three parcels planted with vines exceeding fifty years of age. The maturity of these vines concentrates flavour and complexity, yielding wines of greater depth and character.
  • The Chardonnay here speaks with unadorned clarity—a pure articulation of cépage and terroir without artifice. The result is a wine of genuine authenticity, reflecting the specific conditions of la Roche Vineuse with precision.

Breeding
The wine is aged entirely in oak barrels
M. Francois
This wine pairs gracefully with delicate fish preparations, crustaceans and shellfish. It complements jambon persillé and other charcuterie admirably. The structure and acidity make it equally suited to lighter poultry dishes and vegetable-based preparations. A versatile companion to the table.

CHÂTEAU DE LA GREFFIÈRE

Established on the rolling hillsides of La Roche-Vineuse in Saône-et-Loire, Château de la Greffière farms 65 hectares of certified organic vines across clay-limestone and clay-siliceous soils in the Mâconnais. A viticultural estate since 1585, it has been in the Greuzard family since 1924; in 2012, Xavier Greuzard took the helm and nearly doubled the vineyard from 35 to 65 hectares, sharpening a clear commitment to quality. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its organic viticulture, the breadth of its grape varieties — Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Noir, Gamay — and the consistency of its white, red, and sparkling wines across the Mâcon appellation. A historic estate with its feet firmly in the Mâconnais, and its eyes fixed on precision winemaking.
