Chateau Haut-Tropchaud 2020 — Pomerol - 2020

WINE | RED WINE | BORDEAUX | POMEROL
Bottle of : 0.75L

A neighbour to Pétrus and Trotanoy on Pomerol's finest plateau

  • This wine displays the concentrated character and aromatic typicity one expects from a serious Merlot. The fruit-forward profile is underpinned by the mineral backbone of Pomerol's clay-rich soils, delivering both immediate appeal and structure for the cellar.
  • We recommend decanting this wine an hour before service to allow its aromas to develop fully. This brief aeration will soften the tannins and reveal the layered complexity that distinguishes the vintage.
  • Chateau Haut-Tropchaud rewards patience. The 2020 vintage will develop gracefully over the next decade, its fruit deepening and secondary characteristics emerging as the wine matures in bottle.

Product features : Chateau Haut-Tropchaud 2020 — Pomerol

In the mouth
Cassis-led palate with elegant tannin structure. The mid-palate reveals nuances of vanilla and leather, developing with air. A long, measured finish with good acidity balance.
On the nose
Pronounced dark fruit aromatics—blackcurrant and plum—with subtle floral notes. As the wine opens, hints of graphite and earth emerge, speaking to the terroir's mineral character.
On the eye
Deep garnet, with a dense, opaque core characteristic of the appellation
M. Francois
A wine of considerable versatility at table. It partners equally well with white meats and poultry, red meat preparations, game, and mature cheeses. The structure and weight suit both casual entertaining and more formal dining. Decant for optimal enjoyment.

CHATEAU HAUT-TROPCHAUD

Perched on the highest point of the Pomerol plateau in Gironde, Château Haut-Tropchaud covers just 2 hectares of clay-gravel soils rich in iron-rich subsoil concretions, immediately adjacent to Pétrus and Trotanoy. Acquired by Michel Coudroy in 1987, this micro-vineyard planted entirely in Merlot is classed among the premiers crus of Pomerol in the Féret guide — the definitive Bordeaux reference. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rarity of its terroir, the precision of its single-varietal approach, and the quiet consistency of over thirty-five years of careful husbandry. A confidential Pomerol, shaped entirely by the scale of its 2 hectares.
