The Quié family's refined expression of Margaux terroir

  • This wine represents the distinctive character of Margaux with admirable fidelity. The appellation's hallmark elegance and perfume are evident throughout, reflecting the gravelly left-bank terroir and the careful stewardship of the Quié family, who also own Château Croizet-Bages.
  • A refined and elegant wine of considerable finesse. The structure is well-balanced, with silken tannins that speak to careful élevage and the quality of the vintage. This is Margaux at its most graceful—restrained, never heavy, with the poise expected of a Second Cru Classé.
  • This vintage possesses excellent cellaring potential. The wine will develop further complexity over the coming years, rewarding patience with deeper aromatics and greater integration. A wine worth laying down for a decade or more.

In the mouth
The palate reveals fine structure and elegant tannins. The wine has good weight without excess, with flavours echoing the nose and a finish that lingers with restrained power. A harmonious expression of Margaux.
On the nose
Aromas of red and dark fruits—cherry, plum, blackcurrant—mingle with floral notes of violette. Subtle spice and oak frame the bouquet without dominating, creating an inviting and complex nose.
On the eye
Garnet with youthful intensity
Breeding
Oak barrel ageing for a period of 12 to 18 months
M. Francois
This is a wine that will reward patience. Whilst approachable now, it will develop considerably over the next five to ten years in bottle. We recommend cellaring it for a few years before opening, allowing the tannins to soften and the aromatics to deepen. A worthy addition to any serious Bordeaux collection.

CHATEAU RAUZAN-GASSIES

Established on the deep gravel soils of Margaux in the Gironde, Château Rauzan-Gassies is a 2nd Grand Cru Classé 1855 spanning 30 hectares, guided by the Quié family since 1946. Born in 1763 from the division of the great Rauzan estate, the château has maintained a consistent, disciplined style across more than two centuries — its blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc giving full expression to the finesse that defines Margaux. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the reliability of its style, the depth of its gravelly terroir, and its recognition in 2024 as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant by the French state. A Margaux of genuine standing, true to its classified rank.
