Three generations of winemaking excellence in Castillon

  • A wine of considerable finesse, built upon supple tannins and a rounded structure that speaks to careful viticulture and measured élevage. The balance between fruit and structure is notably well-judged.
  • Elegant and layered, with the restraint and depth characteristic of the finest Castillon expressions. This is a wine that rewards patience and reveals itself gradually in the glass.
  • Château Peyrou holds organic certification, reflecting Catherine Papon-Nouvel's commitment to sustainable viticulture. The same family also owns Château Gaillard, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, bringing generations of expertise to this Right Bank terroir.

Product features : Colombe de Peyrou Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux 2016

In the mouth
Crisp attack followed by a rounded mid-palate. Vigorous tannins provide structure without harshness, whilst the finish remains clean and persistent. A wine of good weight and definition.
On the nose
Aromatic profile centred on dark fruits—blackcurrant and plum—with subtle spice notes that add complexity and suggest careful oak handling during élevage.
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with excellent colour intensity and clarity.
M. Francois
A dependable choice for both white and red meat preparations. The wine's acidity and tannin profile make it particularly well-suited to roasted poultry, whilst its depth handles richer beef dishes with ease. Approachable now, yet capable of modest development over the next five to seven years.

CHÂTEAU PEYROU

Set on the clay soils at the foot of the Castillon slopes in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, Château Peyrou covers 10 hectares under the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, with a vineyard dominated at 90% by Merlot. Acquired in 1989 by oenologist Catherine Papon-Nouvel, the château converted to organic farming in 2008 — certified by Ecocert — and has since established itself as one of the appellation's most reliable addresses, producing reds that combine the generosity of Castillon Merlot with genuine ageing potential. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its organic viticulture, the precision of its cellar work, and the consistency of its wines across vintages. A sound, terroir-driven Bordeaux for those who want substance and integrity in the glass.
