Fourth Growth Saint-Julien of quiet distinction

  • A wine of genuine complexity and refinement. Saint-Pierre offers the structure and gravitas expected of a classified growth, with a precision of flavour that frequently outperforms many higher-ranked neighbours in blind tastings.
  • The palate reveals seductive dark fruit and gentle spice, underpinned by a powerful tannin structure that speaks to serious winemaking. The texture is supple despite the wine's concentration.
  • This is a complete Saint-Julien of considerable length. The finish is clean and persistent, suggesting a wine built for patient cellaring and eventual food pairing rather than immediate gratification.

Product features : Chateau Saint-Pierre - 4eme Cru Classé 2021 — Saint-Julien

Breeding
Aged in barrels for 14 to 16 months, of which 50% new oak.
On the eye
Deep purple-violet in colour, with a richness that suggests good extraction and ripe fruit at harvest.
On the nose
An elegant bouquet revealing notes of vanillin oak, dark berries, and subtle warm spice. The aromatics are well-integrated rather than showy, speaking to measured élevage and quality fruit.
In the mouth
A powerful tannin structure frames the palate, yet the texture remains velvety. Concentration and freshness are well-balanced, with a long, clean finish that lingers with dark fruit and spice notes.
M. Francois
Saint-Pierre remains Saint-Julien's understated jewel, often overshadowed by larger neighbours yet consistently delivering the density and aromatic precision of a Second Growth. A serious, complete wine. Pair with roasted venison, wild boar, or robust regional dishes from south-west France.

CHATEAU SAINT-PIERRE

Château Saint-Pierre covers 17 hectares of Günzian gravel in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. First recorded in 1693 under the name 'Serançan' and classified as a 4th Grand Cru in 1855, the château was reunified by Henri Martin in 1982 and subsequently passed to his daughter Françoise Triaud and her family. With Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for 75% of the blend, the château produces structured, age-worthy reds vinified with rigour at controlled yields of 35 to 45 hl/ha. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the integrity of its terroir, the continuity of family stewardship, and its commitment to organic conversion. A benchmark Saint-Julien, true to the spirit of the appellation.
