The mark of Alain Brumont's meticulous craftsmanship

  • A distinguished dry Pacherenc from one of France's oldest appellations. Chateau Montus demonstrates the serious potential of this south-west terroir, crafted by the region's most respected vigneron.
  • This wine rewards patience. Its mineral structure and aromatic intensity suggest considerable ageing potential, developing further complexity over the coming decade.
  • Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh ranks amongst France's most historic appellations, yet remains underappreciated. This vintage exemplifies why the region merits serious consideration from those seeking authentic character.

In the mouth
Rounded and supple, with excellent balance between richness and acidity. The mineral finish is clean and persistent, suggesting the wine will develop further nuance with time in bottle.
On the nose
Citrus and orchard fruit lead, with hazelnut and dried stone fruit notes. A restrained oak influence provides structure without dominating the aromatic profile.
On the eye
Clear pale gold with subtle amber glints
Breeding
Ageing in 600-litre barrels
M. Francois
In youth, serve alongside white fish and shellfish to appreciate its freshness. As it matures, the wine's weight and texture make it increasingly suitable for richer preparations—foie gras, cream-based dishes, and aged cheeses reveal its true depth.

VIGNOBLES BRUMONT

Based in Maumusson-Laguian in the Gers, Vignobles Brumont spans 300 hectares across the Madiran appellation, on south-facing slopes of reddish rolled pebbles and deep clays. Since 1979, Alain Brumont has made Tannat his signature, establishing Château Bouscassé and Château Montus as the benchmark addresses of the Sud-Ouest — a standing confirmed by five stars from Bettane+Desseauve in 2023, the only estate in the region to hold that distinction. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its terroirs, the consistency of its élevage, and the remarkable ageing potential of its reds over a decade and beyond. A Sud-Ouest address we back without reservation.
