The hidden gem of Saint-Julien

  • A wine of considerable complexity and refinement. Saint-Pierre offers the density and aromatic precision that regularly places it alongside the second growths in blind tastings, yet remains often overlooked by those familiar only with its larger neighbours.
  • An elegant Saint-Julien distinguished by seductive notes of dark fruits and gentle spice. The wine unfolds with restrained power, revealing layers of flavour that reward patient appreciation and careful cellaring.
  • Impressive length on the palate, with a powerful tannin structure wrapped in velvety texture. The wine balances concentration with freshness, culminating in a lingering, satisfying finish that speaks to its serious provenance.

Breeding
Aged in barrels for 14 to 16 months, of which 50% new oak.
On the eye
Deep purple-tinged garnet, displaying the colour intensity characteristic of fine Saint-Julien.
On the nose
An elegant bouquet unfolding gradually. Vanilla, dark berries and gentle spice notes emerge with aeration, revealing the wine's complexity and careful élevage in oak.
In the mouth
Powerful tannin structure with supple, velvety texture. The palate combines concentration with freshness, moving seamlessly from entry through to a sustained, refined finish.
M. Francois
Saint-Pierre remains Saint-Julien's most underrated fourth growth. Its precision and density frequently rival second-growth standards in blind assessment. A serious, complete wine that pairs beautifully with roasted game—venison, wild boar—or the hearty regional fare of south-western France.

CHATEAU SAINT-PIERRE

Château Saint-Pierre covers 17 hectares of Günzian gravel in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. First recorded in 1693 under the name 'Serançan' and classified as a 4th Grand Cru in 1855, the château was reunified by Henri Martin in 1982 and subsequently passed to his daughter Françoise Triaud and her family. With Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for 75% of the blend, the château produces structured, age-worthy reds vinified with rigour at controlled yields of 35 to 45 hl/ha. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the integrity of its terroir, the continuity of family stewardship, and its commitment to organic conversion. A benchmark Saint-Julien, true to the spirit of the appellation.
