Chateau Chauvin 2020 — Saint-Émilion Grand Cru - 2020

WINE | RED WINE | BORDEAUX | SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU CLASSE
Bottle of : 0.75L

A refined marriage of Merlot and Cabernet Franc

  • This is a wine of considerable charm—supple and fruit-driven, with the kind of natural balance that makes drinking it a genuine pleasure. The structure is there, but never austere.
  • Château Chauvin demonstrates the classical harmony between terroir expression and winemaking discipline. The Right Bank clay and limestone speak clearly, yet the hand of the vigneron is evident throughout.
  • This vintage rewards patience. Lay it down for several years and you will be rewarded with a wine of greater complexity and depth. A proper bottle for the cellar, and a memorable occasion when finally opened.

In the mouth
Finely textured and well-defined on the palate. A pleasant fleshiness without heaviness, with good acidity providing shape and a satisfying finish of some length.
On the nose
The bouquet is restrained but compelling—ripe dark berries with subtle hints of plum and a whisper of earth. No aggressive oak; the fruit leads.
On the eye
Bright, clear garnet with an inviting luminosity
Breeding
Ageing in barrels: 16 months; 50% new oak, 50% one-year-old barrels
M. Francois
A versatile table wine of genuine merit. Pair it with charcuterie, white meats, red meats, or game—it meets each with quiet confidence. The balance and restraint make it equally at home at an informal supper or a more formal occasion.
