The cornerstone of any serious cellar

  • Château Margaux stands among the world's most recognised fine wines, with a reputation built over centuries. Its consistent excellence across vintages makes it an essential reference point for any collector of Bordeaux.
  • As a Premier Cru Classé of Pauillac, Margaux represents the pinnacle of Left Bank Bordeaux. The château's terroir and winemaking philosophy produce wines of remarkable complexity and ageing potential that reward patience and proper cellaring.
  • The wine combines ripe red fruit character with refined oak influence, creating a palate of considerable structure and elegance. This balance of fruit, tannin and oak integration is characteristic of the finest Margaux vintages.

In the mouth
Powerful, well-structured palate with fine-grained tannins and excellent mid-palate weight. Oak influence is evident but well-integrated, with a persistent finish showing both fruit and mineral character.
On the nose
Expressive bouquet of red and dark fruits, with supporting notes of cedarwood, vanilla and subtle grilled oak. The aromatics develop complexity with air.
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with excellent colour intensity and clarity
Breeding
Aged in new oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
M. Francois
I regard Château Margaux as essential for any serious collector. The wine's ability to age gracefully whilst maintaining elegance makes it ideal for those seeking wines to accompany refined dining. Margaux rewards patience—cellaring allows the structure to soften and secondary flavours to emerge. A benchmark for Left Bank Bordeaux.

CHATEAU MARGAUX

Château Margaux extends across 262 hectares at Margaux-Cantenac in the Gironde, at the heart of the Bordeaux appellation, on gravelly croupes widely regarded as among the finest on the Left Bank. Restructured from 1572 by the de Lestonnac family and classified a 1er Grand Cru in 1855, the château was decisively revived from 1977 under André Mentzelopoulos; his family continues to lead the estate today, with Alexis Mentzelopoulos at the helm since 2023. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the coherence of its vineyard, the precision of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led assemblages, and the singular character of its dry white, Pavillon Blanc, produced entirely from Sauvignon Blanc. A Bordeaux landmark we are proud to offer.
