A distinguished white from one of Pessac-Léognan's finest terroirs

  • Chateau de France occupies a privileged position on the elevated plateau of Léognan, where the Thomassin family has maintained its vineyard for generations. This elevation and terroir position contribute significantly to the wine's character and consistency.
  • The wine's structure and spiced character make it particularly suited to grilled fish and shellfish, though it also pairs thoughtfully with aged goat's cheese and Beaufort. Its acidity provides excellent food compatibility.
  • Les Halles de Quercamps offers direct access to this fine Pessac-Léognan at fair merchant pricing, reflecting our long-standing relationship with the property and our commitment to value for our customers.

Product features : Chateau de France 2012 — Pessac-Léognan

In the mouth
Powerful yet balanced, with notable richness offset by crisp acidity. Peppery notes evident on the palate confirm the aromatic promise. The finish is sustained and mineral, with lingering spiced complexity uncommon in white Bordeaux.
On the nose
Honeyed and waxy on the nose, with stone fruit notes of peach and apricot. The bouquet develops with subtle spiced undertones characteristic of the vintage.
On the eye
Golden robe, brilliant and clear with appealing luminosity
Breeding
Ageing in new oak barrels (30%) and one-year-old oak for 10 months
M. Francois
This is a wine of genuine substance, best appreciated with grilled fish or seafood where its structure and acidity will shine. The 2012 vintage has developed well, showing the peppery spice that distinguishes the finest Pessac-Léognan whites. Decant slightly if serving young, or cellar for further evolution.
