Organic Syrah from the Northern Rhône's finest terroir

Crafted from mature Syrah vines on the steep slopes of Cornas, this wine expresses the mineral character and intensity that define the appellation. The domaine's thoughtful viticulture preserves the integrity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
A wine of considerable structure and depth, with layers of dark fruit, spice and subtle floral notes. The balance between power and elegance reflects both the vintage and the careful élevage in oak, allowing the wine's natural character to emerge.
A natural companion to game and rich meat dishes, particularly those prepared with warming spices. The wine's tannins and acidity make it equally suited to duck prepared with Asian-inspired seasonings or slow-cooked beef preparations.

In the mouth

Balanced and assured on the palate, with ripe tannins and good acidity that frame the wine's dark fruit character. The finish is sustained and mineral, with a pleasant warmth that lingers.

On the nose

Aromas of dark berries—blackcurrant and blackberry—mingling with violet and white pepper. Subtle notes of liquorice and dried herbs emerge as the wine opens, suggesting the complexity within.

Whilst excellent on its own, it finds particular harmony alongside dark chocolate—the tannins and spice complement the depth and slight bitterness beautifully. Planted on the steep granite slopes of Cornas in the Ardèche, Domaine Jean-Luc Colombo farms 6 hectares of Syrah under organic certification, with yields held firmly below 20 hl/ha. Founded in 1984 by Jean-Luc Colombo — a pivotal figure in the modernisation of the Cornas appellation — the estate produced its first vintage of Les Ruchets in 1987. Since 2010, Laure Colombo has led the winemaking, steering the estate through its conversion to organic farming, with full certification achieved in 2015. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its work on granitic terroir, the precision of its Syrah, and the consistency of a demanding family approach. A benchmark for lovers of serious red wines from the Vallée du Rhône.
