Reasoned viticulture from a Cornas benchmark producer

  • A defining expression of the Cornas appellation. Jean-Luc Colombo's Terres Brûlées represents the classical character of this northern Rhône terroir, crafted with the restraint and precision that have established the domaine's reputation.
  • Nearly two years of measured élevage has refined the wine's structure, allowing the Syrah to develop its characteristic power whilst maintaining elegance and definition. The result is a wine of considerable depth and poise.
  • Certified organic viticulture and winemaking without compromise on quality. This is serious Cornas that offers genuine substance and character, representing genuine value for those who understand the appellation.

Product features : Domaine Jean-Luc Colombo Cornas Rouge Terres Brûlées 2017 — Organic

In the mouth
Powerful yet refined tannin structure. The palate shows excellent concentration with flavours of dark stone fruit and spice, underpinned by a mineral backbone. The wine possesses the structure and balance to age gracefully.
On the nose
Pronounced aromatics of dark raspberry and blackberry, with secondary notes of liquorice, black pepper and coffee. The bouquet develops with air, revealing mineral undertones characteristic of the granite-based terroir.
On the eye
Intense ruby red with good depth of colour
M. Francois
A wine of considerable merit alongside grilled beef—particularly a côte de boeuf cooked over wood fire and finished with fleur de sel. The wine's tannin structure and mineral character complement the charred richness of the meat with natural affinity. Equally rewarding simply as a serious expression of Cornas.

DOMAINE JEAN-LUC COLOMBO

Planted on the steep granite slopes of Cornas in the Ardèche, Domaine Jean-Luc Colombo farms 6 hectares of Syrah under organic certification, with yields held firmly below 20 hl/ha. Founded in 1984 by Jean-Luc Colombo — a pivotal figure in the modernisation of the Cornas appellation — the estate produced its first vintage of Les Ruchets in 1987. Since 2010, Laure Colombo has led the winemaking, steering the estate through its conversion to organic farming, with full certification achieved in 2015. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its work on granitic terroir, the precision of its Syrah, and the consistency of a demanding family approach. A benchmark for lovers of serious red wines from the Vallée du Rhône.
