A wine of genuine distinction and considerable depth

  • Produced from exceptionally old vines on the steep slopes of Hermitage, this wine represents the pinnacle of traditional Rhône winemaking. The age and vigour of these parcels impart considerable complexity and structure to the final blend.
  • This is a wine built for the cellar. With its refined tannin structure and well-integrated acidity, it possesses the constitution to develop gracefully over two to three decades, revealing greater nuance and subtlety with time.
  • The complexity here rewards patient tasting. Layered aromas of dark fruit and subtle florals give way to a palate of considerable sophistication, underpinned by the mineral character that defines the finest Hermitage expressions.

In the mouth
The palate displays admirable refinement. Fine-grained tannins provide structure without dominating, whilst the wine maintains excellent balance throughout. The finish is notably persistent, with lingering fruit and savoury notes.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds with ripe dark fruits, delicate floral notes, and intriguing hints of citrus zest and cocoa. Air reveals further aromatic development and mineral undertones characteristic of the terroir.
On the eye
Deep garnet robe with an attractive brick-toned rim
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted beef or game, where its structure and complexity complement rich, savoury dishes. It also works remarkably well with chocolate-based desserts, where the wine's fruit and subtle cocoa notes create an elegant harmony.
