Angevin sweetness from a sun-blessed vintage

  • Careful maturation reveals a complex tapestry of preserved fruits, honey and white flowers, underpinned by delicate mineral notes. This 2001 demonstrates the depth that patient élevage can achieve in the finest moelleux wines.
  • Faye d'Anjou exemplifies the Coteaux du Layon appellation at its most accomplished, marrying honeyed richness with a refreshing acidity that prevents any sense of heaviness. The balance is both natural and refined.
  • Two decades of bottle age have allowed this wine to develop gracefully, its character deepening whilst retaining the vibrancy characteristic of Loire Valley sweet wines. A testament to the vintage's quality.

In the mouth
Unctuous and round, yet remarkably poised. The wine balances its inherent sweetness with genuine freshness, finishing with a lively, cleansing acidity that invites another sip.
On the nose
Honey and acacia blossom dominate the bouquet, with white flowers and lemongrass. Riper notes of pineapple and apricot emerge, alongside quince and the candied fruit character that develops with age.
On the eye
Clear to deep golden yellow with green glints, evolving towards old gold with amber reflections
Breeding
Ageing on fine lees has imparted a silky texture and enhanced aromatic complexity, whilst preserving the characteristic freshness of Chenin Blanc
M. Francois
This wine complements foie gras canapés with particular elegance. Blue-veined cheeses such as Fourme d'Ambert find an ideal partner here. Equally at home with desserts built on white or yellow stone fruits, exotic fruits, or almond-based preparations such as frangipane tart.
