Vines of remarkable age and character

  • A wine of genuine expression and refinement, drawn from vines planted in the 1940s and now over eighty years old. The name—Vitatge Vielh—speaks to its provenance from a modest 1.80-hectare parcel that has yielded wines of consistent quality and distinction.
  • The palate reveals considerable structure and length, with a mineral backbone that carries through to a lingering, composed finish. This is a wine built for contemplation rather than haste.
  • Farmed organically, without chemical intervention. The vineyard's age and established root systems contribute to the wine's depth and natural balance, reflecting genuine terroir expression.

Product features : Clos Lapeyre Vitatge Vielh de Lapeyre 2016 — Jurançon

In the mouth
Ample and expressive, with a savoury spice running through the mid-palate. The structure is refined and well-integrated, with toasted notes that speak to the wine's age and complexity. A mineral thread maintains freshness throughout.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds with exotic fruits—pineapple and passion fruit—alongside dried apricot and hazelnut. A subtle spiced note emerges, suggesting careful élevage and maturity.
On the eye
Pale yellow, bright and clear.
Breeding
Aged one year on lees with stirring in barrels and large wooden vats, then six months in stainless steel tanks.
M. Francois
Vitatge Vielh pairs thoughtfully with seafood preparations—Dover sole or turbot with beurre blanc—and equally with roasted poultry or veal with cream sauces enriched by wild mushrooms. Aged cheeses of character also find harmony here. A wine for the table, not the cellar.
