A dependable Pomerol for your table

  • This wine embodies the characteristic style of Pomerol, where Merlot dominates the blend. The appellation's clay and iron-rich soils impart a distinctive earthiness and structure that defines the region's finest offerings.
  • With cellaring, this wine will develop secondary notes of leather and forest floor, revealing greater complexity. The 2016 vintage shows the structure to age gracefully over the coming years, rewarding patience.
  • Sourced directly from the château, we offer this wine at a fair merchant's price, reflecting our long-standing relationships with Bordeaux proprietors rather than intermediary markups.

Product features : Chateau Rouget 2016 — Pomerol

Breeding
Aged in barrels for approximately 18 months
On the eye
Deep purple-black robe, remarkably dense and concentrated in appearance.
On the nose
Expressive bouquet of dark cherry and blackcurrant, with undertones of earth, truffle and warm spice. The aromatics develop gradually, revealing mineral notes beneath the fruit.
In the mouth
Smooth and full-bodied, with a velvety texture characteristic of fine Merlot. The wine shows good flesh and weight on the palate, with silky tannins and a lingering finish that speaks to careful élevage.
M. Francois
A wine of genuine versatility at table. Consider it alongside game terrines, beef daube, or even a dark chocolate mousse. The wine's earthy undertones and textural richness make it a natural companion to autumn and winter fare. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the aromatics to open fully.
