In the mouth
The palate shows good volume and structure, with velvety tannins that frame the fruit without harshness. The wine has weight and presence, with a mineral undertone characteristic of the right bank.
On the nose
Dark berries and black plum dominate, with secondary notes of black pepper and subtle earth. The aromatics are well-defined without excessive oak influence.
On the eye
Brilliant garnet, with good depth of colour indicating ripe fruit at harvest.
A wine of substance that pairs beautifully with beef dishes, particularly those with savoury reductions. Steak with shallot sauce is an ideal match, where the wine's tannins complement the richness of the meat and the acidity cuts through the sauce.

CHATEAU LA CONFESSION
Set across 7 hectares of argilo-calcareous and siliceous hillside slopes in Saint-Émilion, Château la Confession produces exclusively red wines, with yields held to 29 hl/ha. Founded in 2001 by Jean-Philippe Janoueix — heir to a Bordeaux négociant family established since 1867 — the château was created by uniting the former châteaux Barreau and Haut-Pontet. Its very first vintage drew immediate praise from Robert Parker, a telling sign of the ambition behind this project. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this château for the rigour of its viticulture, the restraint of its yields, and the precision with which its Merlot-led blends express the Saint-Émilion terroir. A reference we have followed closely across several vintages.
