Complex and elegantly restrained

  • A refined summer wine, best enjoyed on the terrace or with grilled meats. The Pinot Noir here demonstrates the remarkable potential of Sancerre's limestone terroir.
  • Pairs beautifully with grilled côte de boeuf or other substantial meat dishes. The wine's silky tannins and balanced structure complement rich, charred flavours.
  • This is Pinot Noir at its most civilised. The finesse and elegance typically associated with Burgundy are fully evident here, proving that exceptional examples exist beyond the Côte d'Or.

On the eye
Ruby-red with cherry hues, displaying excellent clarity and luminosity.
On the nose
Violet florals lead to red fruit notes—cherry and raspberry—with a subtle chocolate undertone. The bouquet is refined and inviting.
In the mouth
Soft attack revealing good roundness, animated by silky, velvety tannins. The finish is dry with pleasant bitter notes that add complexity and length.
M. Francois
Lucien Crochet's Sancerre rouge ranks among the finest expressions of Pinot Noir outside Burgundy. This is a civilised, elegant wine of remarkable digestibility. The palate is dense yet refined, with a finish marked by attractive bitter notes. A genuine testament to what limestone soils and careful viticulture can achieve in the Loire Valley.

DOMAINE LUCIEN CROCHET

Based in Bué at the heart of the Sancerre appellation, Domaine Lucien Crochet farms 35 hectares under certified organic agriculture across the argilo-calcaire and kimmeridgian soils that define the finest terroirs of the Cher. Founded in 1934 from the merger of the Crochet and Picard vines — Lucien Picard being among the first to bottle his own wines in the appellation — the estate has been led since 1983 by Gilles Crochet, trained in Dijon and at Domaine Dujac, who brought a Burgundian precision to the Loire. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for its rigorous organic viticulture, diverse soils — griottes, caillottes, terres blanches — and the remarkable consistency of its white, red and rosé Sancerre. A Loire reference we are proud to champion.
