List of products by brand CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER

Based in Reims, Champagne Taittinger farms 288 hectares across the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, on the chalk-rich soils that define great Champagne. Founded in 1734 as Forest-Fourneaux, the House regained full family independence in 2006 — a turning point that shapes every decision made here. Chardonnay plays a central role, lending the cuvées their characteristic elegance and freshness, underpinned by ageing in the estate's remarkable Gallo-Roman chalk cellars. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this House for the consistency of its style, the rigour of its HVE-certified viticulture, and a range that performs at every level — qualities rarely found at this scale. A benchmark House we are proud to list.

Champagne Taittinger stands among the great signatures of the appellation: 288 hectares of estate vines, extraordinary Gallo-Roman chalk cellars, and a family independence restored in 2006 that now guides every viticultural and commercial decision the House makes.

A House rooted in the history of Reims

Founded in 1734 as Forest-Fourneaux, Taittinger is one of Champagne's oldest Houses. Pierre Taittinger acquired it in 1932, establishing a family name synonymous with a precise, Chardonnay-driven style. Based in Reims, the House draws on vineyards across three celebrated zones: the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Blancs, and the Vallée de la Marne. Controlling 288 hectares of its own fruit is a significant advantage in maintaining stylistic consistency across the range.

Terroir: chalk, cellars, and three great growing zones

The soils throughout the Taittinger holdings are classic craie champenoise — deep chalk that drains freely and imparts the mineral tension distinguishing the finest Champagnes. Beneath Reims, the celebrated Gallo-Roman crayères provide ideal ageing conditions: a constant 10°C, high humidity, and complete darkness. All three Champagne varieties — Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier — are cultivated across the estate, though Chardonnay holds a privileged position, contributing the freshness, finesse, and longevity for which the House is known.

HVE certification and responsible viticulture

Taittinger holds HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification — France's most rigorous state-recognised environmental standard. This reflects a genuine commitment to reducing chemical inputs, preserving biodiversity, and managing water resources across a large estate. Since Vitalie Taittinger assumed the presidency, this environmental direction has been pursued with growing ambition.

The Taittinger range

  • Brut Réserve (NV) — the signature non-vintage blend, Chardonnay-led, with characteristic freshness and a fine, persistent mousse.
  • Prélude Grands Crus (NV) — a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend sourced exclusively from Grand Cru villages, offering greater depth.
  • Nocturne Sec — a rounder demi-sec style, suited to dessert pairings or as an aperitif for those who prefer less austerity.
  • Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs — the prestige cuvée, 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay, aged a minimum of ten years in the Gallo-Roman cellars. A benchmark blanc de blancs.
  • Comtes de Champagne Rosé — a prestige rosé of considerable complexity, combining Chardonnay with Pinot Noir vinified as a still red wine.

Why we have selected Champagne Taittinger

At Halles Quercamps, reputation alone is not enough. What drew us to Taittinger is a combination of factors genuinely rare at this scale: the consistency of style across every cuvée, from Brut Réserve to Comtes de Champagne; the integrity of the supply chain, with 288 hectares of estate fruit; and the restored family independence since 2006, freeing the House from short-term corporate pressures. We recommend Taittinger to enthusiasts building a cellar and to those seeking a prestige gift. The Comtes de Champagne pairs beautifully with lobster or scallops; the Brut Réserve is an elegant choice for any celebratory occasion.
