List of products by brand DOMAINE OGEREAU

Established in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay since 1890, Domaine Ogereau farms 24 hectares under organic certification across the Coteaux du Layon and Savennières in the Loire Valley. Five generations of the Ogereau family have shaped this exceptional mosaic of schist, sandstone and clay-schist soils, with Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau now bringing remarkable precision to both Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its cellar work, the depth and longevity of its whites, and the recognition it has earned from the Bettane+Desseauve guide, which named Emmanuel Ogereau Producer of the Year 2020. A benchmark address for anyone serious about the contemporary Loire.

Since 1890, Domaine Ogereau has stood as one of the Loire Valley's most compelling family estates — rooted in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, farmed organically, and shaped across five generations by a single family's uncompromising relationship with their land.

Five generations in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay

Founded in 1890, Domaine Ogereau has been cultivated by the same family for well over a century. Today, the estate is led by Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau, who took on its direction in 2014 and have since brought a new level of precision and ambition to a house already held in high regard. Their commitment is not to reinvention but to refinement — deepening what five generations have built on these south-facing slopes of the Maine-et-Loire.

A terroir of schist, sandstone and ancient soils

The estate's 24 hectares straddle two of the Loire's most distinguished appellations: the Coteaux du Layon and Savennières. The soils are strikingly varied — schist, sandstone, wind-blown sands and clay-schist — all of which lend a mineral tension and structural complexity that is the hallmark of this corner of Anjou. The south-facing slopes provide the slow, even ripening that Chenin Blanc demands, while the diversity of substrates gives each parcel its own distinct character. It is precisely this mosaic of terroirs that allows the estate to produce wines of real depth across the full range of colours.

Organic farming as a guiding principle

Domaine Ogereau holds full organic certification (Agriculture Biologique), a commitment that reflects both a respect for the land and a conviction that the finest expression of these soils comes only through careful, chemical-free viticulture. In the cellar, the approach is equally considered: the winemaking serves the terroir rather than correcting it, with élevage calibrated to preserve the freshness and mineral character that define the estate's style. The recognition of the Bettane+Desseauve guide, which named Emmanuel Ogereau Producer of the Year 2020, confirms what we at Halles Quercamps have long believed: this is an estate working at the very top of its game.

The wine range

Domaine Ogereau produces wines across three colours, drawing on a broad palette of Loire grape varieties planted on their diverse soils in the Anjou and Loire appellations:

  • White wines — led by Chenin Blanc, ranging from dry and mineral to the luscious, age-worthy sweet wines of the Coteaux du Layon and the structured, complex dry whites of Savennières
  • Red wines — principally from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, offering the Loire's characteristic freshness and precise fruit character
  • Rosé wines — crafted from Grolleau and Pineau d'Aunis, reflecting the estate's lighter, more delicate touch with these traditional Anjou varieties

Why we have selected Domaine Ogereau

We have listed Domaine Ogereau for three reasons that matter to us as a family merchant. First, the consistency of the work: five generations of accumulated knowledge, now channelled through the focused ambition of Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau. Second, the quality of the whites: the Chenin Blancs from the Coteaux du Layon and Savennières are among the most compelling in the appellation — wines built for the cellar, with the structure and acidity to reward patience. Third, the integrity of the farming: organic certification is not a marketing tool here but a long-held conviction. This is an estate for the confirmed Loire enthusiast, for anyone building a serious cellar, and for those who appreciate wines that speak clearly of where they come from. At the table, the dry whites are superb with freshwater fish, river trout, or a fine goat's cheese from the Loire itself; the sweet Coteaux du Layon wines are a natural partner for blue cheeses or a simple tarte Tatin.
