That deep sense of place has never entirely left the property. The de Bailliencourt dit Courcol family acquired the château in 1918 and have remained at its helm ever since, now into the fifth generation. It is a continuity rare even by Bordeaux standards, and one that has shaped the estate's unhurried, long-term approach to viticulture and winemaking.

A notable chapter in the château's modern history came in 1970, when 4.5 hectares were ceded to the neighbouring Château Pétrus — a transaction that speaks volumes about the quality of Gazin's terroir and the esteem in which it has long been held on the plateau.
