A terroir rooted in Arsac, at the heart of Margaux
The château is established in Arsac, a commune in the southern Médoc that falls within the Margaux appellation. Across its 6 hectares, the soils combine deep graves — the gravelly subsoils so characteristic of the Médoc's finest terroirs — with sandy silts, offering both excellent drainage and a capacity to retain just enough moisture to sustain the vine through the growing season. It is this geological foundation that underpins the finesse and aromatic definition for which Margaux is celebrated.
The Médoc's first garage wine: a founding ambition
When Philippe Porcheron founded Château Marojallia in 1999, the concept of the vin de garage — micro-production, obsessive attention to detail, yields pushed to their absolute minimum — was still a provocation in Bordeaux. Marojallia became the Médoc's first expression of this philosophy. With yields held to just 25 hl/ha, well below the appellation norm, the château set out to extract the fullest possible expression from each parcel, prioritising quality over quantity at every stage. The encépagement — Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — reflects the classic grammar of the left bank, but interpreted here with a parcel-level rigour that was, at the time, genuinely pioneering.
A new chapter: the Sénéclauze family, 2023
In March 2023, Château Marojallia was acquired by the famille Sénéclauze, already well established in Arsac as proprietors of the neighbouring Château Marquis de Terme. This transfer of ownership to a family with deep roots in the commune and a proven commitment to Médoc viticulture represents a natural and reassuring continuity. The founding ethos of precision and restraint passes into hands that understand the terroir intimately — a transition that augurs well for the château's next phase.

The château produces a single colour from its Arsac terroir:
- Rouge (Margaux AOC) — a left-bank blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, shaped by deep graves soils and yields of 25 hl/ha, offering the structure and aromatic refinement characteristic of the Margaux appellation.
