The northernmost Grand Cru of Gevrey-Chambertin, refined and profound.

  • A distinguished expression from Domaine Faiveley, one of Burgundy's most respected merchants. This Mazis-Chambertin demonstrates the house's consistent ability to capture the essence of this celebrated climat with restraint and authenticity.
  • A wine of genuine Côte de Nuits character: structured tannins, mineral undertones, and the subtle complexity that defines the finest Gevrey-Chambertin terroirs. This vintage shows the appellation's characteristic balance between power and elegance.
  • Mazis-Chambertin rewards patience and proper cellaring. The 2017 vintage presents a wine of considerable depth, with layers that unfold gradually. Its architecture suggests a decade or more of graceful development ahead.

Product features : Domaine Faiveley - Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017

In the mouth
The palate displays admirable balance: ripe red fruit flavours interwoven with restrained oak, supported by fine-grained tannins. The finish is clean and persistent, with a mineral quality that speaks to the vineyard's limestone-rich soils.
On the nose
A complex bouquet revealing red and dark stone fruits alongside subtle oak influence. Spice notes—white pepper and liquorice—emerge with aeration, complemented by hints of forest floor and dried herbs.
On the eye
Deep ruby garnet, with the subtle luminosity characteristic of fine Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir.
Breeding
Aged 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels.
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with classic Burgundian fare: beef with wild mushrooms, duck à l'orange, or aged cheeses. Its structure and elegance also suit lighter game dishes. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the wine to open fully. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2035.
