In the mouth
Direct, clean attack with lightly crushed red fruit and considerable juiciness. The mid-palate carries the wine's characteristic silk, whilst a bright acidity on the finish provides definition and length.
Thierry Germain's Franc de Pied is wine of pure emotion. The ungrafted vines impart a particular vibration—an energy absent from grafted counterparts. Here, the usual structural architecture of Cabernet Franc yields to perfume and silk. This is the domaine's most naked, most sincere expression. Domaine des Roches Neuves is a wine estate in the Saumur-Champigny appellation (Loire Valley), run by Thierry Germain. Around 28 hectares farmed biodynamically. Main grapes: Cabernet Franc (reds) and Chenin Blanc (whites). Limestone tuffeau soils. Cuvées: Terres Chaudes, Marginale, Franc de Pied. Wines of great precision and fine depth.
