The power and elegance of Pauillac in a characterful second wine

  • The second wine of the prestigious Château Pichon Longueville Baron, a Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac. Les Griffons expresses the full elegance and power of the Pauillac terroir whilst remaining more approachable than the grand vin, offering an excellent introduction to this distinguished estate.
  • Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant, this wine is structured and powerful yet refined, with fine tannins and considerable depth. Merlot contributes roundness and fruit character, tempering the Cabernet's force and achieving an accomplished balance between strength and finesse.
  • Les Griffons rewards drinking from release, thanks to its well-integrated tannin structure and vibrant fruit aromatics. It possesses genuine cellaring potential, developing greater complexity over time—leather, forest floor and truffle notes emerging with age.

Product features : Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2014 — Pauillac

In the mouth
Powerful yet refined on the palate, with silky, well-integrated tannins. Ripe dark fruits—blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry—meld with tobacco and liquorice in a rich, velvety structure. The finish is long and persistent, marked by freshness and a subtle mineral quality.
On the nose
Complex and intense bouquet: blackcurrant and plum, warm spice, cedar and a characteristic smoky note typical of fine Pauillac. The aromatics unfold with aeration.
On the eye
Deep purple robe, bright with violet reflections
Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, with 50% new wood, imparting subtle vanilla and toasted aromas whilst preserving the purity of the fruit
M. Francois
Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a second wine of considerable elegance, offering a genuine expression of Pauillac's terroir. Its aromatic richness, fine tannins and silken structure make it an ideal companion to red meat, game and mature cheeses. More accessible than the grand vin, it allows one to experience Pichon Baron's excellence now, whilst retaining the capacity to develop in bottle for several years. A fine Bordeaux that merits discovery for its equilibrium of power and refinement.
