The balanced champagne for celebration and the table

  • This Grand Cru Champagne achieves a refined equilibrium between power and elegance, a true expression of its terroir. The blend showcases the finest characteristics of both the Côte des Blancs and the Côte des Noirs.
  • Chardonnay dominates the assemblage, lending finesse and mineral precision. The grape's natural acidity provides structure and ageing potential, whilst its subtle stone fruit character defines the wine's character.
  • Pinot Noir from the Côte des Noirs contributes depth and complexity. Its contribution reveals the chalky, structured nature of the terroir, adding body without compromising the wine's inherent elegance.

Breeding
Ageing on lees: approximately 3 years in chalk cellars
On the eye
Fine, persistent bubbles; pale golden hue with greenish glints.
On the nose
Expressive and inviting. White peach, hazelnut, and subtle brioche notes emerge, with a mineral undertone characteristic of Grand Cru chalk soils. The nose develops with aeration, revealing hints of lemon zest and toasted almond.
In the mouth
Dry and well-balanced, with a creamy mousse that coats the palate. The mid-palate shows white fruit and hazelnut, whilst the finish is clean and persistent, with a saline minerality that speaks clearly of terroir.
M. Francois
I regard this as a genuinely versatile champagne. It performs admirably as an aperitif, yet it is equally at home accompanying a meal—particularly petits fours, seafood, or light poultry dishes. The balance between Chardonnay's refinement and Pinot Noir's structure makes it a dependable choice for those seeking a Grand Cru that neither shouts nor whispers.

CHAMPAGNE THIERRY HOURY

Based in Ambonnay, one of Champagne's seventeen Grand Cru villages on the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Thierry Houry tends just 2 hectares of chalk-rooted vines at the heart of the appellation. The Houry family has cultivated this small holding across several generations, working Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to produce grower Champagnes of genuine terroir character. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this House for the precision of its Grand Cru parcels, the typicity of Ambonnay's chalk soils, and the integrity of a family operation working at truly human scale. These are grower Champagnes that speak first and foremost of their village, far removed from the blended anonymity of large-scale négoce.
