Le Côte du Py de Laurent Gauthier est une lecture exemplaire de ce terroir mythique. C'est un vin sérieux, bâti pour la table et la garde. On y retrouve cette dualité propre aux grands vins : une force tellurique (la roche bleue) alliée à une élégance aristocratique. C'est sans doute la cuvée la plus complète du domaine, celle qui réconcilie la gourmandise du Gamay avec la noblesse des grands vins rouges de garde. Rooted on the Côte du Py at Villié-Morgon, Domaine Laurent Gauthier stands at the heart of the Morgon appellation, where blue granite, schist and volcanic soils give Gamay a depth rarely found elsewhere in Beaujolais. Founded in 1834 and passed down through the generations, the estate was taken on by Laurent in 1991; his sons Jason and Elie now work alongside him — a continuity of family stewardship that speaks for itself. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its terroir expression, the coherence of its range across red, white and rosé, and a character firmly removed from négociant Beaujolais. For anyone seeking the true face of Morgon, these are bottles worth knowing.
