A Médoc estate in the same family since 1860

  • A Saint-Estèphe true to its commune: firm structure, ripe black fruit and the restrained elegance that sets the northern Médoc apart.
  • The Braquessac family has farmed this slope since 1860. Château Tour Haut Vignoble rewards both the dinner table today and a decade in the cellar.
  • Its tannic frame and dark fruit call for roast and braised red meats, game, and well-aged cheeses — a wine for the considered host.

Breeding

12 to 18 months in French oak barrels, partly new, for enhanced aromatic complexity

On the eye

Deep garnet robe with purple highlights, dense and bright.

On the nose

Blackcurrant and dark plum lead the bouquet, lifted by cedar and gentle spice over a discreet vanilla background.

In the mouth

A clean attack, with firm, still-youthful tannins carrying ripe black fruit. The finish returns to cedar and liquorice, with the restraint typical of Saint-Estèphe.

M. Francois

Saint-Estèphe asks for patience and repays it. The 2022 from Tour Haut Vignoble makes the case plainly: a warm vintage gave the wine its power, the clay subsoils held the freshness, and the barrel ageing did the rest without ever taking over. This is a wine for a properly set table, with the structure to spend five to ten years in the cellar. At this level of the appellation, the consistency of the Braquessac family is what brings us back each year.

CHÂTEAU TOUR HAUT VIGNOBLE

Set on the northern slopes of Saint-Estèphe, Château Tour Haut Vignoble covers 19 hectares of deep gravel and clay-limestone soils facing the Gironde estuary, within the Bordeaux appellation. In the same family hands since 1860, the château is run by a father-and-son team — an agronomist and an oenologist — bringing rigorous vineyard management and precise winemaking to a red blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for its unbroken family lineage, its gravel terroir and the consistency of a thoughtfully farmed property distributed by négociant house Schröder & Schÿler. A reliable address for left-bank Bordeaux lovers.
