  • Domaine Guigal was established in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, the historic village at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The house remains rooted in this illustrious terroir, where generations have cultivated their commitment to distinctive, age-worthy wines.
  • The 2020 vintage reflects a warm growing season, producing a wine of considerable structure and depth. Robust tannins are refined through extended barrel maturation, resulting in a wine of power tempered by elegance and complexity.
  • This wine is offered at domaine pricing through Les Halles de Quercamps, reflecting our direct relationship with the producer and commitment to fair merchant practice.

Breeding
Unique ageing of 38 months in new oak barrels
On the eye
Deep, dark garnet with subtle mauve reflections. Dense and concentrated appearance.
On the nose
Expressive and layered bouquet of black fruits, warm spice, and subtle oak-derived aromas. The nose is intense and evolving, revealing further complexity with aeration.
In the mouth
Powerful and concentrated, with prominent but refined tannins. Flavours of dark plum, blackberry, and vanilla develop across the palate. The structure is impressive yet harmonious, with a long, persistent finish.
M. Francois
This wine pairs excellently with game, particularly venison and wild boar, as well as robust red meat preparations. It also complements mature cheeses of character. Decanting one hour before service is recommended to allow the wine to fully express itself.
