The hallmark of consistency and excellence from a great Rhône appellation

  • This wine displays a remarkable complexity that emerges from the interplay of fruit, spice, and carefully managed oak maturation. The structure reveals layers of flavour that reward patient tasting and cellar time.
  • The steep, terraced vineyard parcels with their schistous and silico-calcareous soils impart a distinctive mineral character. This challenging terrain produces wines of genuine character and depth, reflecting the rigour of the appellation.
  • The wine achieves an elegant balance between ripe red fruit aromas and subtle spice notes, underpinned by rounded tannins softened through extended barrel ageing. The result is a wine of harmony and poise, built for the cellar.

Product features : Domaine Guigal - Cote-Rotie Brune et Blonde 2021 — Côte-Rôtie

Breeding
Minimum 36 months in oak barrels with 50% new wood
On the eye
Deep ruby red in colour, with an attractive luminosity characteristic of the vintage.
On the nose
The bouquet reveals layered aromas: red berries, white pepper, and subtle oak-derived notes of vanilla and cedar. The nose develops with aeration, suggesting good ageing potential.
In the mouth
The palate is marked by ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit, with a whisper of spice and vanilla from the élevage. The tannins are refined and integrated, providing structure without harshness. Acidity is well-balanced, supporting a wine built for medium-term cellaring.
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with game birds, particularly pigeon prepared with spices, and red meats such as beef daube or venison. It also complements a well-chosen cheese board. Drink now through the next decade, though the wine will develop further complexity with careful storage.
