Breeding
Unique ageing of 40 months in new oak barrels.
On the eye
Deep ruby-red robe with violet reflections; a wine of considerable colour intensity.
On the nose
Aromas of dark fruit, leather and liquorice, with notes of roasted spice and oriental warmth. Eucalyptus adds complexity. The aromatic intensity is commanding and sustained.
In the mouth
Considerable richness and structure. The terroir expresses itself through elegant yet powerful tannins, with an affirmation of character that speaks to the vineyard's ancient soils and demanding climate.
A wine of substance and gravitas, suited to the table of game and rich, slow-cooked dishes. The concentration and tannin structure will develop further over two decades in a cool cellar. Decant one hour before service to allow the wine to open fully.

Domaine E. Guigal is a wine estate and merchant founded in 1946 in Ampuis (Rhône). Run by the Guigal family. Key appellations: Côte-Rôtie (La Mouline, La Turque, La Landonne), Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Grapes: Syrah, Viognier, Grenache, Marsanne.
