On the eye
Deep ruby robe with excellent clarity and luminosity
On the nose
Expressive bouquet revealing liquorice and mocha notes, with secondary hints of dried herbs characteristic of the appellation. The aromatic profile develops gradually in the glass.
In the mouth
Ample and suave on the palate, unfolding layers of blackcurrant and liquorice with fine-grained tannins. Excellent length and a lingering finish demonstrate the wine's breeding and balance.
This Volnay demonstrates the classical elegance for which the appellation is justly renowned. The wine pairs exceptionally well with traditional Burgundian charcuterie, particularly jambon persillé, where its refined structure and aromatic complexity enhance the savoury qualities of the dish. Maison Louis Latour is a Burgundy wine estate and merchant founded in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton. One of the largest grand cru vineyard owners in Burgundy with around 50 estate hectares. Grapes: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Appellations: Corton-Charlemagne, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Chambertin, Chevalier-Montrachet, among others. Estate and merchant production.
