Breeding
Aged in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months, imparting subtle woody notes that support the wine's power and enhance its complexity.
On the eye
Dense, almost black-purple robe with brilliant depth and lustre.
On the nose
Intense and layered: dark berries, woodsmoke, cocoa, liquorice and a whisper of vanilla. The nose develops with air.
In the mouth
Rich and structured, with dense yet silken tannins. Blackberry, cassis, cocoa and warm spice unfold across the palate, finishing long and mineral with a subtle oak frame.
M. Francois
The New Black Wine is a wine of real substance—powerful Malbec rendered with modern confidence whilst honouring Cahors tradition. It speaks clearly of its terroir: dark, mineral, complex. This is for those who seek character over fashion, a wine that will reward cellaring and repay the serious drinker's attention. Distinctive and thoroughly recommended.
