Product features : Domaine Nicolas Rossignol - Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Angles

Breeding
16 to 18 months in oak barrels (approximately 25-30% new oak). Unfiltered and unfined.
On the eye
Intense purple-red colour, deeper than typical Volnay, suggesting good concentration and maturity potential.
On the nose
Complex bouquet of dark berries—blackcurrant, bilberry, black cherry—with pronounced mineral notes of flint. The stony soil character is distinctly present, adding refinement to the aromatic profile.
In the mouth
A characterful Volnay with well-defined, finely-grained tannins that are serious yet elegant. The structure shows admirable balance, with the wine displaying both the finesse expected of Volnay and a subtle power reminiscent of neighbouring Pommard.
M. Francois
Les Fremiets sits at the Pommard boundary; its name derives from 'frémir'—to quiver—as it is often the first parcel to break bud in spring. This vineyard produces a fascinating wine: it captures Volnay's characteristic elegance whilst displaying a tannic structure that echoes Pommard's power. A compelling expression of Burgundian terroir.
