Breeding
In barrels (one-third new oak) for the syrahs, mourvèdres and carignans, and in large wooden vats for the grenaches, for 12 months.

Concentrated bouquet with notes of tapenade and blackcurrant, suggesting both ripeness and underlying mineral character typical of the terroir
In the mouth
Dense and full-bodied on the palate, revealing layers of ripe dark fruit with savoury, suave undertones. The finish is persistent and well-defined, with fine-grained tannins providing structure
A wine of substance that pairs excellently with lamb cutlets or other Mediterranean-influenced meat dishes. The density of fruit and balanced tannin structure also suit slow-roasted beef or game. Best served at cellar temperature, allowing the wine's complexity to develop fully in the glass. Drinking well now, with potential for modest further development over the next three to four years.

Domaine de la Janasse is a wine estate in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, Courthézon (Vaucluse). Founded in 1973 by Aimé Sabon. Around 90 hectares of vines. Grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault. Single-vineyard cuvées: Vieilles Vignes, Chaupin. Wines capture the diversity of terroirs across the appellation. Available at Les Halles de Quercamps.
