Breeding
Aged 12 months, 30% in new oak barrels.
On the eye
A fine ruby-red colour, clear and well-defined.
On the nose
The bouquet opens with notes of redcurrant and blackberry, layered with hints of smoke and subtle toasted oak. The aromatics are inviting without being assertive, revealing additional complexity with aeration.
In the mouth
The palate is both rounded and elegant, with supple, silky tannins that integrate seamlessly. A distinctive minerality underpins the fruit, whilst the finish is long and refined, closing with admirable finesse.
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with beef dishes, particularly those with earthy accompaniments such as mushrooms or truffles. It is equally at home with roasted poultry, game, and mature cheeses. A glass alongside apple-based desserts also merits consideration.

CHATEAU PICQUE CAILLOU

Established on 25 hectares of Pyrenean Gunz gravels in Mérignac, Château Picque Caillou is one of the oldest properties in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, with origins dating to 1755. Acquired by the Calvet family in 1998 and guided since 2007 by Paulin Calvet with Professor Denis Dubourdieu as consulting oenologist, this château combines rigorous HVE-certified viticulture with a precise expression of its stony, alluvial soils. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led reds and the aromatic clarity of its Sauvignon-Sémillon whites — two ranges that faithfully reflect the mineral character and freshness that define Pessac-Léognan. A serious, accessible Bordeaux address underpinned by a coherent family vision.
