An ode to the purity and elegance of Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay

  • This Pouilly-Fuissé expresses a distinctive terroir, delivering exemplary minerality and freshness through its calcareous, rocky soils. The wine captures the essence of its limestone-rich appellation with characteristic precision and definition.
  • Careful vinification and oak élevage impart a rich texture and aromatic complexity whilst preserving the wine's natural fruit vibrancy. The balance between structure and elegance reflects thoughtful winemaking that honours the fruit.
  • Sur la Roche demonstrates the hallmark equilibrium of fine Pouilly-Fuissé: power tempered by refinement. A lengthy finish suggests considerable ageing potential for those who prefer to cellar their wines.

Breeding
Ageing in oak barrels, partially new, enriches its complexity without masking the purity of the fruit
On the eye
Luminous golden robe with green glints, indicative of youth and vitality
On the nose
Intense aromas of white flowers, lemon and flint, with a discreet, elegant oak undertone that complements rather than dominates the bouquet
In the mouth
Vibrant, mineral attack followed by white stone fruit, roasted almond and a whisper of vanilla on the finish. The wine displays good structure with a dry, clean conclusion
M. Francois
Saumaize-Michelin's Sur la Roche appeals through its precision and refinement. The successful marriage of incisive minerality with aromatic richness makes it an excellent choice for refined dishes—mushroom risotto, white fish in sauce, or poultry with cream-based accompaniments. A worthwhile selection for those who appreciate the finest expressions of Burgundian Chardonnay.
