On the eye
Brilliant pale gold with fine clarity
On the nose
Open and inviting, with clean citrus and white stone fruit notes. A hint of honeysuckle emerges as the wine opens, characteristic of ripe chenin from the Loire.
In the mouth
Floral and fruity on the attack, with white peach and quince. The palate is defined by a vivid, mineral acidity that cuts through the residual sugar, leaving a clean, refreshing finish.
I particularly enjoy this wine as an aperitif or with summer entertaining. The demi-sec style suits foie gras beautifully, and it has the structure to complement lightly spiced shellfish. What appeals to me most is its lack of heaviness—the acidity is the key. A wine that rewards a cool cellar and a little patience.
