The essence of volcanic terroir, expressed with aristocratic restraint

  • This Morgon embodies the character of its distinctive terroir. Successive tastings reveal layers of complexity: ripe dark fruit, mineral precision, and the telluric power of blue granite bedrock. A wine of genuine substance.
  • Cote du Py rewards the serious collector. Its fine-grained tannin structure and mineral freshness suggest a wine built for extended cellaring, yet it remains approachable now alongside game, braised meats, and classic French cuisine.
  • Laurent Gauthier's most complete cuvée reconciles the natural charm of Gamay with the architecture of a serious red wine. This is Beaujolais for those who demand authenticity and depth.

M. Francois
An exemplary expression of this mythical terroir. A serious wine built for the table and the cellar, reconciling the telluric force of blue granite with aristocratic elegance. The most complete cuvée from the domaine—where Gamay's natural charm meets the structure of a serious red wine. Excellent with sauced dishes and red meats.

DOMAINE LAURENT GAUTHIER

Rooted on the Côte du Py at Villié-Morgon, Domaine Laurent Gauthier stands at the heart of the Morgon appellation, where blue granite, schist and volcanic soils give Gamay a depth rarely found elsewhere in Beaujolais. Founded in 1834 and passed down through the generations, the estate was taken on by Laurent in 1991; his sons Jason and Elie now work alongside him — a continuity of family stewardship that speaks for itself. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision of its terroir expression, the coherence of its range across red, white and rosé, and a character firmly removed from négociant Beaujolais. For anyone seeking the true face of Morgon, these are bottles worth knowing.
