A measured expression of Châteauneuf terroir from a conscientious grower

  • Beaurenard is among the oldest and most respected family domaines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with vineyards worked across multiple terroirs. The Bois Renard cuvée represents their classical approach: Grenache-forward, balanced, and built for the cellar.
  • The 2021 vintage offers good structure and freshness. This is a wine that rewards patience; expect it to develop complexity over the next decade, with secondary flavours emerging as primary fruit softens.
  • Beaurenard's winemaking respects the appellation's character without excess extraction or new oak. The result is a wine of genuine Rhône identity—neither over-ripe nor austere—suited to serious collectors and traditional Burgundy drinkers alike.

Product features : Beaurenard Bois Renard 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge

In the mouth
Medium to full body with fine-grained tannins and good acidity. Flavours of cherry, plum, and wild herbs persist through a dry, slightly peppery finish. The structure suggests 8–12 years' ageing potential; drinking well now, but best appreciated from 2025 onwards.
On the nose
Red and black stone fruits, garrigue, dried herbs, and a subtle mineral undertone. The bouquet is restrained initially but opens with air, revealing white pepper and a faint leather note characteristic of mature Grenache.
On the eye
Deep garnet with slight brick at the rim; good density without heaviness.
M. Francois
Beaurenard's Bois Renard is a wine I return to regularly—it exemplifies why Châteauneuf need not shout to impress. The 2021 is characterised by restraint and balance, qualities often overlooked in favour of showier releases. For the collector seeking genuine terroir expression and cellar potential, this represents honest winemaking at its best.
