Altenbourg terroir distilled into crystalline Riesling

  • This Riesling originates from Altenbourg, a distinguished terroir positioned below the Grand Cru Furstentum. The site's particular exposure and soil composition afford the fruit optimal ripeness, yielding a wine of considerable depth and character.
  • A dry, refined expression combining ripe stone fruit and citrus with pronounced minerality. The wine achieves admirable balance between freshness and substance, revealing layers of aromatic complexity without heaviness.
  • Pairs elegantly with grilled fish, shellfish, and subtly spiced dishes. Its crisp acidity and mineral backbone cut through richness whilst its fruited mid-palate complements delicate proteins and vegetable-forward preparations.

Intense aromas of lemon and green apple, underpinned by floral notes and a pronounced mineral character that speaks clearly of terroir
In the mouth

M. Francois
Domaine Weinbach's Altenbourg represents Alsatian Riesling of considerable refinement. The interplay of freshness, fruit and minerality demonstrates genuine complexity. This is a wine of breeding rather than exuberance—one to enjoy now for its purity, or to cellar for the subtlety that will emerge with modest age.
