In the mouth
Suave and supple on the palate, with pleasing freshness and gentle bitter notes. Silky tannins carry aromas of bitter orange peel, leading to a balanced, lingering finish.
On the nose
Restrained bouquet offering thyme and rosemary notes, complemented by wild raspberry and blackberry. The aromatics suggest garrigue rather than overripeness.
On the eye
Violet-red robe with bright reflections and a subtle, velvety depth of colour
M. Francois
An accomplished expression of southern Rhône terroir. Ideal with roasted guinea fowl, lamb cutlets cooked over vine cuttings, or Mediterranean vegetable preparations. Drink at 14–15°C over the next three to four years.

LE CLOS DU CAILLOU

Le Clos du Caillou is a wine estate in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation (Southern Rhône). Run by Sylvie Vacheron and Bruno Gaspard. Around 53 hectares. Grapes: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault (reds), Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc (whites). Organically farmed. Cuvées: Les Quartz, Les Safres, Reserve. Wines of great depth and complexity.
