Sauvignon

A true expression of Loire terroir

  • This is no mere casual quaff. Denis Bardon's Sauvignon demonstrates the precision and character that distinguishes serious Loire viticulture. The wine rewards careful attention and repays the modest investment many times over.
  • A natural companion to shellfish and crustaceans. The wine's mineral backbone and crisp acidity cut through the richness of oysters, langoustines, and scallops with particular elegance. Equally at home with grilled sole or moules marinières.
  • This represents genuine value for the discerning drinker. The balance between quality of fruit, complexity of terroir expression, and modest outlay makes it a sensible choice for regular enjoyment rather than special occasion alone.

In the mouth
Powerful yet harmonious on the palate. Gunflint minerality dominates the mid-palate, supported by crisp acidity and a clean, persistent finish. The structure suggests this wine will develop further over the next two to three years.
On the nose
Expressively aromatic, with white stone fruit and herbaceous notes. The bouquet opens gradually, revealing flint and mineral undertones that speak to the Loire's distinctive geology.
On the eye
Golden-hued, with pale greenish reflections characteristic of the vintage
Breeding
Vinification at low temperature, 16 to 18°C
M. Francois
A dozen Burgundy snails in court-bouillon proved an inspired pairing. The wine's mineral precision complemented the delicate earthiness of the snails whilst its acidity cleansed the palate between each course. A successful marriage that demonstrates the versatility of well-made Loire Sauvignon.
