Burgundy's refined expression of Pinot Noir elegance

  • A distinguished 1er Cru from the Petite Chapelle climat, this wine exemplifies the finesse of Gevrey-Chambertin. The terroir's limestone-rich soils impart mineral precision to the Pinot Noir, whilst the 2022 vintage's moderate ripeness preserves the appellation's characteristic elegance and food-friendliness.
  • The élevage in Burgundian oak has been restrained, allowing the fruit to remain prominent. This is a wine of texture rather than power—silky tannins and noble acidity define its character, making it immediately approachable yet capable of developing complexity over five to eight years.
  • The 1.5L format offers excellent value for those seeking to lay down a serious bottle or to share a fine Burgundy with fellow enthusiasts. Marchand-Grillot's careful viticulture and traditional winemaking ensure authenticity and consistency vintage after vintage.

Product features : Domaine Marchand-Grillot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle 2022

Breeding
Approximately 16 months: 50% in new oak barrels (Bertranges oak) and 50% in two-year-old barrels.
On the eye
Bright ruby robe, limpid and lustrous
On the nose
Expressive bouquet dominated by black cherry and raspberry. With aeration, complex secondary notes emerge: liquorice, white pepper, and violet add depth and intrigue to the aromatic profile.
In the mouth
Silky attack followed by a generous, textured palate. The tannins are remarkably fine and refined, without any harsh edges. The wine's structure is elegant rather than muscular, with a long, clean finish.
M. Francois
Pair with duck—roasted or as magret aux griottes. The Pinot Noir's noble acidity cuts through the meat's richness whilst its red fruit notes echo the sauce's subtle fruit character. Also excellent with game birds, coq au vin, or aged cheeses.
