Eight generations of Burgundy excellence from Vosne-Romanée

  • The domaine's vineyard holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin comprise mature vines averaging forty years of age, conferring depth and complexity to the wine. This maturity ensures concentration of flavour and stability in the cellar.
  • The wine expresses itself through a refined aromatic profile, with cassis and red fruit notes complemented by subtle spice. Partial élevage in new oak adds structure without overwhelming the wine's natural character.
  • Mongeard-Mugneret represents eight generations of viticultural knowledge and merchant tradition in the heart of Burgundy. This heritage informs every decision, from harvest timing to élevage protocols.

Product features : Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Gevrey-Chambertin 2022

In the mouth
A wine of substance and refinement. The palate displays leather, musk and vanilla spice notes, with a whisper of tobacco in aged examples. The structure is well-defined and balanced, with fine-grained tannins supporting the fruit. Powerful yet elegant.
On the nose
In youth, the wine offers pronounced cassis and dark red fruit notes, with hints of liquorice and spice from partial new oak élevage. These aromatics develop considerable complexity as the wine matures in bottle.
On the eye
Deep, sustained colour with excellent clarity. A wine of evident concentration and maturity.
Breeding
30 to 40% new oak barrels
M. Francois
This Gevrey-Chambertin pairs admirably with dishes of character: game, beef in rich sauces, and mature cheeses. The wine's structure and depth reward careful food pairing. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the aromatics to develop fully. Cellaring potential: ten to fifteen years for well-stored bottles.
