A wine of considerable mineral character

  • Six generations of vignerons have stewarded this magnificent terroir on the right bank of the Rhône. Domaine Bernard Gripa represents continuity of craft and deep knowledge of Saint-Joseph's distinctive granite and schist soils.
  • Cultivated with reasoned viticulture practices that respect the vineyard's natural balance. This approach yields grapes of genuine concentration without excess intervention.
  • The structure and power of this wine make it an excellent companion to game birds, venison, and beef dishes prepared with classical French technique. Consider it alongside a properly hung pheasant or roasted duck.

Product features : Domaine Bernard Gripa - le Berceau 2023 — Saint-Joseph

In the mouth
Powerful and well-structured, with ripe tannins that have integrated well. The mid-palate shows genuine mineral tension balanced against dark fruit. The finish carries both power and refinement, with the characteristic silica note of the appellation.
On the nose
Aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant develop into notes of white pepper and a distinctive mineral edge—the signature of Saint-Joseph's granite subsoil. Secondary spice emerges with air.
On the eye
Deep purple-garnet robe with considerable brilliance and depth
Breeding
One year in oak barrels
M. Francois
This is a wine of substance and breeding. It will accompany beef dishes with particular distinction—a fillet cooked simply, or a classically prepared côte de boeuf. The mineral backbone and tannin structure suggest cellaring potential of 8–12 years, though it offers considerable pleasure now. A serious expression of Saint-Joseph.
