Breeding
Ageing in oak barrels, including a proportion of new wood, for 12 to 14 months
On the eye
Brilliant ruby with garnet highlights
On the nose
Aromas of strawberry and raspberry, with secondary notes of vanilla, prune, and subtle wood influence
In the mouth
The bouquet translates faithfully to the palate. Well-structured and balanced, with good weight and definition. The wine shows the characteristic earthiness of the terroir alongside its fruit expression.
M. Francois
A wine of genuine merit with food. Particularly well-suited to beef preparations—a beef fillet with peppercorn sauce would be an excellent pairing. The wine's structure and acidity provide the necessary counterpoint to rich sauces and substantial proteins.

CHATEAU COMTE DES CORDES

Established across 3 hectares of brown sandy soils on the south-facing slopes of Saint-Émilion, Château Comte des Cordes produces exclusively red wines in one of Bordeaux's most celebrated appellations. The château takes its name from its former owner, the Comte Leuglay des Cordes, and has been in the hands of Guy Balotte since the 1950s — a neighbour, notably, of Château Angélus. The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc reflects the character of this well-placed terroir. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the typicity of its Saint-Émilion expression and the rigour of a small, carefully tended vineyard in one of the Gironde's finest communes. A discreet address well worth knowing.
