The essence of Riesling, refined by the singular terroir of Sommerberg

  • A Riesling of uncommon precision and elegance, drawn from an exceptional granitic terroir. The Sommerberg vineyard's mineral-rich soils impart a distinctive character that distinguishes this wine among the finest Alsatian expressions.
  • The wine achieves a remarkable equilibrium: mineral tension and freshness balanced against aromatic richness. This harmony reflects both the vineyard's geology and the Domaine's meticulous viticulture.
  • A wine of considerable ageing potential, capable of developing with grace over several decades in the cellar. The structure and acidity promise a rewarding evolution that will reveal new dimensions with time.

In the mouth
Taut and crystalline on the palate, with ripe citrus, white stone fruits, and a saline, precisely defined finish. The wine's elegance persists through a long, clean conclusion that speaks to its breeding and balance.
On the nose
A complex, refined bouquet: preserved lemon, white flowers, flint and a delicate smokiness. The aromatics unfold gradually, revealing the wine's layered character and the terroir's mineral signature.
On the eye
Pale yellow with silver highlights; luminous and crystalline in appearance.
Breeding
Aged in traditional large wooden vats, preserving fruit purity and fully expressing the richness of the terroir
M. Francois
This is a wine of genuine distinction—a masterwork for those who appreciate great Riesling in its truest form. The Sommerberg's granitic character finds full expression here: power tempered by refinement. Pair with shellfish, delicate white fish, or refined Asian-influenced cuisine. Drink now for its present complexity, or cellar for years to come and discover the nobility that will emerge.

DOMAINE ALBERT BOXLER

Based in Niedermorschwihr in the Haut-Rhin, Domaine Albert Boxler farms 14 hectares of steep granite hillsides under the Alsace appellation, with yields deliberately held to 30–35 hl/ha. The Boxler family has been rooted in this village since 1672; Albert Boxler made the estate's first domaine-bottling in 1946, a standard his grandson Jean has upheld since taking the helm in 1996. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the precision, tension and mineral drive of its whites — Riesling above all — drawn from lean granitic soils that give the wines a clarity and backbone rarely matched in Alsace. A discreet but thoroughly reliable address for lovers of great dry whites.
